Headband Curls: The true story.

I hope you get a good laugh out of this one folks. Classic case of pinterest hair vs. real life.

Pinspiration: via the paper mama

Real life.
Kell said he liked my hair like this.

it took me 2 times to get it semi-tight.
it still wasn't as tight as I would have liked. It gets difficult  towards the back.

The morning after.
hot. mess.
(you are allowed to laugh)

I slept terribly.

HEY! it worked.

It didn't hold that long, I had to re-curl pieces before the wedding, and it didn't do much in the back at all. Not so much worth the trouble folks.
But feel free to try it.

For Your Listening Pleasure:

Last Night my husband and I...and a bunch of other people went to see Needtobreathe in concert in College Station.
It was my first time seeing them live.
It was Amazing.
There is not much I enjoy more than seeing an artist I listen to LIVE!
Every time I go to a concert it is my new "BEST SHOW EVER."
This experience is no different.

As the band was singing "washed by the Water" I could not help but think of the victims of Super storm Sandy.
This is a true statement.
I decided "for your listening pleasure"
I would choose this song and give you readers an opportunity to help.

Our first piece of furniture.

Last Tuesday, My lovely Husband and I decided we would look for some furniture. We were in desperate need of a dresser and some bed side tables.
We scored this 3 piece set for $100 at a local resale store.
Its all real wood. The drawers are on tracks and it had lots of space.
Great condition, ugly paint job.

BEFORE:
The Massive dresser.

End table. There are two of these.

DURING:
-Stripping paint.

-Lots of paint stripping and sanding. By far my least favorite part.
side note: my husband is a beast.

-Staining. I had lots of fun with this step.
Next we painted all the furniture a light grey, almost white, color.
Then we destroyed it.

AFTER:

We are so in love with these pieces. It's the first set of furniture we bought together.
Not only did we buy it together, but we refinished it together. It was a lot of work and a lot of fun.
I love spending as much time as possible with my husband.
He loves doing this kind of stuff. I am pretty sure he would do it for a living if he could.
As a matter of fact he is working on our next project in the garage right now!
Maybe Mrs. Peach will share.
Until next time...

For Your Listening Pleasure

This weekend I went to a bachlorette party.
We sang lots of Karaoke.
This video shows us being the stars of the show.
We were famous for 5 minutes.
Enjoy.

Ps. I hope they don't hate me for this.

Also, sometimes you have a great hair day and you want to share it with the world.
Karaoke night was that day.

How to: Style Your Husband's Flannel Shirt

First off, the shirt does not have to belong to your husband. It can be your boyfriend, brother, dad, grandpa, random old man, or an over-sized flannel from goodwill.

Pinspired by:

My Look:
-Skinny Jeans and tall boots
you may also want to try it with leggings, colored denim and a variety of boots. I personally like tall tan boots best with this look.
Choose your still depending on the colors in your shirt and your own personal preferences.

-Statement Necklace
This adds the feminine touch to the look. I also wore pearl studs and my gold boyfriend style watch.
Also try substituting the necklace with a scarf with a fun tie.
This is my new favorite. And this site has TONS of fun things to do with scarves.

-Add an over-sized sweater.
or a cardigan or even a leather jacket.

Find what look you are going for and add your style from there.

 My husband.
Sometimes it it ok for us to share clothes.

Love him.
forever&always.

Week One Update.

So this past week I was pinspired TWICE! well probably more than that, but I documented two of them.

On Tuesday, My handsome husband and I decided to go out for lunch and thrift store shopping. We stumbled upon some records at goodwill and they were only a dollar!! One of my friends recently got a record player for her birthday and we had been wanting to get her something to listen to...we got her 8 things to listen to. It was a steal! On the way home I thought about how I could wrap her present and remembered we had a TON of burlap and ribbon leftover from our wedding. It was magic. I was proud. We took it to her at work and I made sure to take a few picture before she opened it.

It was really easy. I just cut about six inches wide on all four sides, folded it up and added the ribbon.

On Thursday, I was hanging out with one of my friends watching a Guliana & Bill marathon and we re-visited the thought of tie dying. We have been talking about doing it for awhile now (Pretty much since we met this summer). She asked my opinion on tie dying a pair of denim shorts and I thought it was awesome.
Her Grandmother has this freaking sweet craft room and just so happened to have some dye.
SPONTANEOUS CRAFT DAY!!!
She dyed her shorts while I pondered what I could dye. I have almost exhausted all options (t-shirt, V-neck, fitted tank, man tank, hoodie, baseball tee). Yeah I am obsessed. I really liked the shorts idea so, when she was finished we went to the nearest thrift store, found the best pair of mom jeans and a few t-shirts, and went back to work.

The most perfect $7 mom jeans.

Now perfect mom jorts.

the process.

The finished product.

And there you have it. My thrifty, pinspired craft week.

An Apology. An Update. A Challenge.

An Apology:
I am terribly sorry that I am terrible at blogging. I want to get better, eventually I will. I hope that you can be patient with me. I really am trying. I just forget sometimes...or a lot of times. So to my few faithful blog supporting friends, I am sorry.

An Update:
You haven't missed out on much of my life. I got my hair did and I got a job!! but then I quit two days later. I leaned that I am not a saleswoman. Never have been and apparently never will be. At least I gave it a try. For now I am a full-time dog nanny to my in-laws pups (who I love very much) and an occasional babysitter. I apply to new jobs all the time hoping something will eventually work out. I know it will. I am pretty positive God has an awesome plan for me. I just have to be patient. Not my strongest attribute.

A challenge:
To become better at blogging and better at applying things of pinterest to my real life...I have challenged myself. I call it the "Pinspirational Challenge." I thought it was a clever title. Just be aware that my photo taking skills...and my husbands photo taking skills are not awesome...yet. We will get there. I have to teach him. haha

And now I will present you with my first two submissions to my very own pinspirational challenge.

1. My Hair: ombre, bangs and layers.
the middle picture is my actual hair and the best picture I could find.
My lovely friend Chelsea Grisham did both the cut and color.

2. Date night

I love this outfit. I will wear it again...as soon as I return my pants for a new pair.
FUNNY STORY: I was pulling my pants up as I was getting into the car and one of the belt loops ripped a whole into my pants. Very beginning of our date. My shirt covered the small whole so I did not change, but the whole did get bigger as the night went on.
I added a jacket because it was a little chilly and went with flats for more comfort. I new we would be standing a lot that night and my husband prefers flats to heels.

Jacket: Marshall's, $30
Peplum Shirt: Agaci, $24
Mustard Cords: Target, $25
Leopard Flats: Madden Girl, $24
Necklace was a gift, but I think it is from Sam Moon.

Most of my pinspiration consists of outfits and hair styles, but it is not limited to food, gifts and DIY cratfs.

My hopes with this challenge is to blog at least once a week. Wish me Luck!!
