Summer Challenge.

Probably thought I was going to enlighten you on how difficult this no shopping challenge is for me right now.
And while I do love to shop, I am not always about that life.
A new challenge has come about.

A challenge with a purpose.
A challenge with meaning.
A challenge that will make a difference.

Things I am passionate about: working at camp and helping others.

Both of these passions are at max capacity right now.
For our youth camps we have decided to do something BIG!!

Read the following letter and decide if you want to be a part too:

This summer at Highland Lakes Journey Youth Camps we want to be a part of something big, and we are inviting you to partner with us on this life-changing endeavor. Students will be taking part in an exercise in leadership and team building called “tool box.” Their teams will be presented with a mission. They will be challenged to supply a fictional remote village with water. Teams will be given parameters and objectives that will require a concerted team effort to transport the water safely through an obstacle course, spilling as little as possible.
The mission objective will read something like this; “Your mission is to deliver a life sustaining substance to a remote village in desperate need. The expedition faces multiple challenges. The substance must be handled with great care. Once placed in the transport it cannot be touched until it arrives at the village. Your team must construct the transport according to the enclosed details utilizing the tools available. The terrain will be rough and the conditions, challenging. Remember, your mission will save lives.”
We are building purpose beyond team building/leadership into this exercise. The evening after the challenge is completed the students will be enlightened as to the fruits of their labor. We will announce that their efforts have been prayerfully sponsored by people all over the world and their labor has provided for orphans in Haiti.
This is where you come in. We have partnered with a Christ- centered organization, “I’m Me” (mentored by “Missions of Hope Haiti”). We need your help. They have acquired land to build the orphanage in an area of desperate need. Building will begin as soon as the funds are raised.
For every ounce of water collected at the end of the challenge we would like to donate funds to building the orphanage. We are asking you, your family, your church to donate to this mission. You can pledge a monetary amount for each ounce collected or make a one-time donation of a specified amount. For example, you pledge a .25 per ounce, and the campers collected a total of 500 ounces, your contribution would amount to $125. If every team were to complete the challenge without spilling any water, the maximum amount collected could total 1200 ounces. We are hosting 3 journey youth camps this summer. You may commit to one camp or all three, however you feel led. Every penny helps and 100% of the funds raised will go directly to the building of this orphanage.
We have a beautiful opportunity to bring hope and life transformation to the orphans of this poverty stricken country and nurture the future leaders of our society at the same time. Imagine the powerful impact this will have upon not only the children of Haiti but the lives of these campers as well.
Join us now as we build teams and leaders with hearts and minds set on service to His kingdom.

“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit the orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”

James 1:27

I understand that was a lot to read, but did it get you excited? Did it tug on your heart strings?
As I was writing this letter I had the urge to go to Haiti and love on these kids.
Haiti is one of the poorest counties in the world.
A country that has been hit with disaster.
We can help.
Whether you pledge a penny or a dollar
or just send us a $10 bill.
We would appreciate it so much.

So I challenge you to jump on this difference making train.
Jump alone, with friends, with your family, co-workers, church, a stranger at the grocery store.
Get inspired and tell everyone.

And if you are seriously interested in helping shoot me an e-mail:
leann@highlandlakescamp.org

I am pretty sure I forgot to breathe the whole time I was typing that.
I am just so excited about it.

Thanks for reading,
Mrs. Peach

Peachy Keen: Year One.

Sunday.
Sunday, June 9, 2013.
Exactly one year after I married my BEST friend.
No, not Brandi...
My best man friend.
Adam Kellogg Daniel.

This year has been so much of everything.
I graduated college.
We got our own place and our own jobs that we adore.
We lived in an RV for 3 months.
We refinished our first furniture set.
We got our first plant named Steve...and have barely kept him alive.
He kind of hates Texas weather.
I started this blog.
This list goes on, but I will not go into every detail of our lives.

I will leave you with two of the most vivid memories of year one.
One from the very beginning of our marriage and one from a few weeks ago.
1. Missing our flight to Jamaica: We stayed in the hotel at the airport, right above our gate and still didn't make it in time. We had a great (sarcasm) conversation with the bag checker, we had a mutual dislike for each other I believe. We so could have made it if she would have just let us try. As a result we missed the first night of our honeymoon and spent the night in Miami. Not as awesome as it sounds, but it was an adventure and it is something we will NEVER forget. I am sure our kids will hear about it one day.
2. Getting our car towed while we were enjoying the greatest show on earth AKA Needtobreathe. It was our first experience in downtown Austin. Crazy night.

Both of these memories I was for sure we were being punked and just kept waiting for Ashton Kutcher to pop out with the cameras, but he never did.
Good news, we can look back now and laugh about it.
And we learned something both times, If you miss your flight you gotta pay some "monies" and don't trust the frat-tastic boy on the street corner.

If you have made it through all of my words, sit back and enjoy pictures from our favorite day, our wedding, and our one year celebration part one (part two coming at you post-summer).

best wedding party ever.

"Errbodies hands go UP...and they stay there!"
We pretty much didn't stop smiling all day.

And then he sang me a song, the he wrote.

And my Papaw tore up the dance floor.

LOVE this one so much.

official!

I love these two pictures of us leaving. All of the emotions captured are hilarious.

One year later.

Our wedding coffee cup, plate, and my bouquet.
Perfect celebration.
We took a bite of our wedding cake, threw it away then enjoyed this delicious cupcake.
Then we wrote down some memories from year one in our journal.
PERFECTION, seriously people.

So long year one, hello year two.

Peach Posh: Dress to Impress

Please forgive me.
I have been super busy.
My life is opposite of say...a teacher.
Summer is our busy season and the rest of the year is "normal."
Although there is nothing about working and living at camp full-time.
Kell and I absolutely love it.
There is nothing else we would rather do right now...
Maybe go back to Jamaica.

So, what I am trying to say is excuses are lame, but I think I have a pretty good one.
If you don't believe me, come visit.
I am super bust all the time, get one day off a week and not much time for dressing up.
Most of my days are spent in t-shirts, shorts and some kind of closed toed shoe.

If I had my way, I would water a dress ever single day of the summer.
I don't think there is any better way to celebrate summertime.
Plus, Kell loves me in dresses. I still dress to impress him.

Pretty much everyday off I am wearing a dress on skirt..
NO PANTS ALLOWED!

These two dresses are all about my our anniversary.
The top picture is what I wore on our actual anniversary.
And I actually wore that dress at our wedding too.
One year later and I am still obsessed with marriage and lace.

The bottom picture is what I wore on our anniversary date.
This was the very first dress I bought for our honeymoon and did not even where it.
This was actually the first time I have worn it.
I went shopping in my own closet and came out with something brand new.
That doesn't happen often.
I usually buy something and wear the next day.

Moral of this post:
If you are a woman, you should wear a dress every chance you get.
Because, let's face it, life is more fun with no pants on.
NO PANTS PARTY 2013!
