Can of Corn (a week later)

Yeah. This was supposed to post exactly a week ago. Not sure what happened, but enjoy it either way.

Today my husband and I were going to be super productive at the DMV and the bank. While he was successful, I have to return with the proper paperwork. I have never felt more like a bum though...I was asked if I had my own place, had my own vehicle and have a job multiple times and the answer to all of those questions at the moment is NO. Kell said I should introduce myself by saying I have a college degree to make myself feel better. He is so sweet. But the day wasn't a total loss. I got Chic-fil-a for lunch and I semi-successfully made my first cake from scratch. Not my first cake ever.
Cooking and baking can be calming for most but for me I get so stressed out. I read the instructions over and over in fear that I have missed a step or measured something wrong. And tonight I still did both and as a result, the cakes sunk in the muddle. They were like little cake bowls, but they still tasted good. We filled in the sink holes with a cream cheese and chocolate frosting. It wasn't a total loss. Everyone said it tasted good.

The most exciting event of the night was surprising my husband with his belated birthday present from his friends and family. A bass cab. Basically a speaker for his guitar in "real talk" terms. He was so shocked and so happy. I captured it a ll on video. It was delivered this morning while he was out playing disc golf and I moved it into the garage. After our productive day he spent the afternoon playing call of duty. SHOCKER. He had no idea that I was baking him a cake or that some of his friends came over to reveal the surprise. I told him to come down after he finished his last game and he responded with "what's down stairs?" I thought quickly and said, "um...dinner is almost ready." His friend came up after me to help speed the process. He finally came down for the big boom. I don't think he stopped smiling the rest of the night. so cute. He plugged up immediately and went straight to "slappa da bass!"

Also my mother-in-law and I started the 30 day shred by Jillian Michael's today. It sucked. And we didn't have any weights so we used canned corn. the end

a long time coming.

Like I have stated before, I have been dreaming of starting this blog for a long time. Last year I took a few photos of some outfits I created and liked. I found them on my computer today and decided I would share them with you. Enjoy.

HOLY SHEET!!

Who would have thought buying sheets would be so difficult. I have been wanting some new sheets for a few months to match our cute bed spread. We had some gift cards to bed bath and beyond so I figured that was the most logical choice, after all they do have the word bed in their name. I was wrong. I couldn't even find the color I wanted, and I was not prepared for some sheets to cost that much money. Did you know the higher the thread count the more they cost? I guess that makes sense but I have never paid more than $20 for some sheets and I was not ready to spend 3 to 4 times that much.

About a week later, on Labor day, I found some sheets! AT ROSS! for $35. not bad at all.

They are this really awesome blue color. I feel like I'm sleeping in the ocean...The Jamaica ocean, not the ocean from home. I have a picture of them, but I can't seem to find it on my computer, but you can see it on instagram!!

The really long weekend according to my iphone.

The really long weekend.

As I was struggling to get into my skinny jeans yesterday I thought, "shoot I need to blog!" I had a really good long weekend celebrating my husband's birthday and Labor day. Of course it's hard not to have a long weekend when you are unemployed. SERIOUSLY. I need a job.

I would say the weekend started Thursday. That was the Hubsicle's birthday and I had big plans for the day. I was extremely excited. It was our first birthday together except when we were little but neither of us remember enough about those days for it to count. I woke up early, earlier than usual, to start my pinterest breakfast. I told Kell that he wasn't allowed to come downstairs until I came and got him. I made birthday cake pancakes! The glaze was a fail, but the pancakes were scrumptious. I set the table with milk in wine glasses a card and the journal that we write letter to each other in. Neither of us had written in it since I moved to Texas, so I thought it would be special. Breakfast was followed by video games, which he played until we left for lunch.

We ate at the Genghis Grill. I knew he liked this place and we don't go there often. I invited some of his friends, but I hadn't heard from many of them so I ended up telling him before we got there so he could ask if they were coming. It was successful, although I felt like I was crashing a bro-party because I was the only female there. We ate too much and it was good. Lunch was followed by more video games. This time with the bro-party.

When we got home we were still full from lunch. we didn't eat much of a dinner but we did make homemade pina-coladas, we ended up making these every night for the next 3 days. They were very very good. We decided to watch a movie, "the Lucky One." It was his birthday, but I got to choose the movie. I think he enjoyed it as much as I did, or at least he got pretty close.

He told me no one had cared about his birthday this much in along time and he was glad I was there to make it special. I would call that the best birthday ever. I had so much fun doing all of that for him.

Friday was a lazy day. We spent our day laying in bed, playing video games, and watching movies. We did venture outside to the neighborhood pool. We walked/longboard. Kell is trying to teach me. My skills are very limited.

On Saturday Kell went to play disc golf with his friends and I got ready to watch the first Georgia game of the season! GO DAWGS!! I was so excited and shocked it was airing in Texas. During halftime the boys took over the TV to PLAY VIDEO GAMES...my life. I finished watching the game in our room! A dawg victory of course. Dinner was on the in-laws, and to Red Lobster we went for endless shrimp to celebrate the birthday. I don't eat shrimp. I got chicken fingers. It was still yumma! I ate at least 3 pieces of bread.

Sunday was our day of rest. We went to church, cracker barrel and Sam's. Kell and I made dinner. Creamed corn soup. One of our favorite discoveries from our honeymoon.

On Monday, Labor Day, My parents came to town. We ate steak, bloomin' onion and BREAD! Bread is my weakness. And went shopping. We didn't buy much, but my parents live in a really small town now and my mom really wanted to go to Target. She used to go like everyday. Now she says she spends most of her time in CVS and Walgreens.  WHAT A SHAME?

This is my weekend. The long and short of it. Enjoy.
