Peach Projects: Re-purposed burlap.

I have been married for almost a year now and have more burlap left over from wedding decor than I know what to do with.

As you all know, we recently moved into our own place and were in desperate need of some curtains.
I say desperate, but really I have just wanted some curtains for a really long time.
Better late than never.

My mom and dad came to visit Mother's Day weekend and I figured this was the perfect opportunity to recruit my mother's help.
Y'all. This project is so easy and cheap.

It really cost me nothing because my mother bought all the curtain rods and I had everything else.

We started out with some old table cloths. The already had a wide hem...perfect for hanging on a curtain rod. My other hemmed the edge so it wouldn't fray.
Really though, she hogged the sewing machine.
I didn't mind it.

I was the designated iron woman.
Which was fine with me because Iron Man is my favorite super hero.

We used the hem of the lace to make the hem of the burlap the same size.

Then Momma Rose hemmed the burlap.

That's it ya'll. I told you it was stupid easy.

BEFORE:                                                                                               AFTER:

We ended up with three variations as you can see.
I am in love and super impressed with our handy work.
I still find myself looking at them and saying,
"We made those!"

And I still have TONS of burlap left. TONS!!

OH!
and to make these rod covers you just sew a little flap and slip it on.
Tuck the edge under.

Perfection.
In the form of burlap and lace.
A few of my favorite things!

Peach Posh: Super Hero Swag.

Last night the Husband and I enjoyed a little date night action with our favorite super hero.
It's fun being back where our love story began.
We get to see movies at the theater where we shared our first date.

MY husband is the greatest.
He got me the fanciest new camera for my birthday and I get to debut its brilliance with an outfit dedicated to my superhero crush, none other than the invincible Ironman.

I am obsessed.
The movie was awesome.
I was nervous the whole time.
And the company wasn't bad either.

Seriously. Once we figure out how to really use this camera, there's no stopping us.

Sweatshirt: forever21
Skirt: H&M
Shoes: Payless

Yes, I was the only one wearing Ironman attire to this movie.
Yes, the very same thing happened to me when the last ironman came out.
Haters gonna hate, ya'll.

I like to call these my lucky reds. I don't know why, but I do.

I have been lucky to get a lot of old jewelry from my family lately so I like to mix it in as much as I can.

This guy. Sorry, he's taken.
Hasn't fully embraced being my blogographer, but he will soon enough because he loves me and this new camera he got me.

Now, everyone take the time to be just a little bit jealous of my phone case my sister got me for my birthday.
Totally forgot about it, so it was a nice surprise in the mail this week.

I am excited to take my blog to the next level with my new toy.
And I promise I will make weekly trips up the hill to get enough internet access to share with all of you.

HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!

Peach Posh: A Little Bit Rock and Roll

Last weekend my husband and I made an impromptu trip to Austin to catch a concert of one of our favorite bands, Needtobreathe.
And to my birthday surprise, he had booked a hotel for the night too!
While we had a few expensive, stressful detours between the show and our room (our car got towed), it was still the best concert. From start to finish.

Let me just say this birthday was the best. I was with my husband, I got lots of cool gifts and lots of love from my family friends and new camp family-friends.

While pondering outfit choices for the show, I decided I wanted to be a bit more rock and roll.
Usually my concert attire is pretty hipster-trendy.
And I think I made the right choice, because I would have looked liked at lease 80% of the other girls there if I had stuck to the norm.

I decided to go for the all black look. And jazz it up with my Jamaican necklace.
Legit. I got it from the craft market in Jamaica.
I paired my best $10 dress with my new swoon-worthy crop top.
And of course I accessorized with my usual: watch, bag, sunnies and sandals.

We ate dinner right across the street from the venue at the cutest little Mexican restaurant that had chandeliers in the trees! I took this picture right under the sign where Drew Holcomb hid 2 free tickets to the show, but I didn't find them.

This outfit was the perfect fit for an outdoor show.
I dance, sang, and had infinite hearts for eyes with my husband right beside me.
Perfection.
